Gulfstream Aerospace rolled out their 150th G200 business jet. This astounding jet was not always a product of Gulfstream Aerospace. It wasn’t until 2001 when they acquired this jet and since then there have been many improvements to the overall design to the jet. "We will continue our effort to improve the G200′s already best-in-class dispatch reliability, which has now reached 99.75 percent", says President Henne of Gulfstream Aerospace.
Since the acquisition of the G200 in 2001, Gulfstream has made significant improvements to this already amazing jet. The first change was to reduce the weight by 600 pounds. This was done by redesigning the interior to be lighter while maintaining an elegant first class business jet appearance. To help the pilots in their flight routine, Gulfstream began offering "Safe Flight’s Enhanced Autopower®" automatic throttle system, or ATS, in 2004. Not to forget about the personal needs of those who choose to fly with Gulfstream, on February 2005, they began installing equipment that would allow for high-speed Internet access from the air. All of these improvements have not gone without notice. In 2004, the European Aviation Safety Agency gave the G200 aircraft type certification.
Maintaining their aircraft is a serious matter, and it definitely shows. Recently in 2006, Gulfstream completely overhauled their maintenance schedule and required services on each aircraft within a specific time. By making sure that the aircraft does not just "meet" safety standards, but "exceeds" them, this means that instead of operating for 300 hours before being serviced, they can now operate 500 hours before another maintenance is to be performed.
Gulfstream Aerospace definitely has a winning aircraft on their hands, and it goes by the name of the G200. From the improvements that have already been made on a spectacular aircraft, it will be surprising to see how they can top their current aircraft.
