Bombardier Releases Annual Forecast Of Aviation Markets

May 1, 2007

Bombardier has released its annual forecast of aviation markets, and has concluded that overall demand for aircraft in the segments Bombardier competes in will remain strong.

Michael McAdoo, Vice-President, Strategy and Business evelopment, enthused," With its comprehensive portfolios of innovative business and regional aircraft, with its state-of-the-art technologies and focus on customer services, Bombardier is well-positioned for continued success."

Bombardier foresees growth in international markets as well as demand for its cost effective business jets and regional aircraft. The report concludes that aviation corporations can be expected to deliver 995 business jets annually, which is a substantial increase over the average delivered in the last decade or so. The expected delivery of 9950 business jet deliveries are forecasted to earn 227 billion dollars in revenues for companies in the industry.

Bombardier expects the record sales of 2006 to increase even further for an additional two years before plateauing.

The report reiterated that the current backlog on delivery was on average 24 months and was expected to stabilize at this time period. Currently, international markets reflect about half of business jet sales, with the US making up the other half.

Bombardier also expects demand for midsized aircraft to increase. They suggest that 11200 new aircraft will be delivered in the 20 years following 2006. This forecasting is up substantially with previous predictions. They also suggest that current high operating costs will reinforce the demand for new fuel efficient aircraft, as fuel prices are expected to continue to plague the aviation industry in the coming years.

Bombardier expects the demand for larger 60-99 seat aircrafts to be 4300 over the same period, and for the larger 100-149 seat size predicts 5900 aircraft to be delivered.
