Turboprop And Jet Sales Increase

May 2, 2007

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association released its first quarter shipment report on Friday. The report shows continued growth in deliveries of business trobo props and jets. This is contrast to figures that show sales of general aviation airplanes fell.

Turboprops showed welcome sales strength with an increase of 30.5% and a 12% increase for business jets.

Pet Bunce, GAMA CEO and president explained the report saying that the current market has shifted towards business planes, and that even though the numbers of planes delivered has dropped, aviation firms reported an 11% rise in billings.

Bunce said, "Markets outside North America continue to account for nearly half of total business jet shipments," and said that strong economic growth in markets outside of North America will likely fuel increased growth.
