Wichita Welcomes NORDAM Cabinetry Operations

May 5, 2007

The well known NORDAM group has recently opened a manufacturing plant in the city of Wichita.  It is a 120,000 square foot building that will specialize in the manufacturing of aircraft cabinetry, one of the specialties of the NORDAM Cabinetry operations.  The building itself is a large upgrade from the 45,000 square foot building it used to house its manufacturing operations in and this upgrade is due to the good financial times the business has seen. The acquisition of a number of executive cabinetry programs (such as the ones for the Cessna CJ4) have enabled NORDAM to make this move.

Tray Siegfried is the vice president of NORDAM and had this to say: "When we decided to begin our cabinetry operations in Wichita, we knew success would depend on the quality of our cabinetry and service to the customer.  Now, five years later, we produce cabinetry for a number of aircraft and have a highly efficient new facility designed to provide a high quality, competitively priced product for our customers."

Current NORDAM customers are Embraer for their Legacy 600 aircraft, Pilatus Aircraft for their PC-12 and Cessna for their CJ4.  With a tripling in area of the manufacturing operations, NORDAM hopes to be able to significantly increase their production.  The tripled area also brings with it twice the amount of manufacturing space and a much more efficient work flow scheme.  Other aspects such as improved dust filtering and better ventilation will also make the manufacturing plant much better than the one they had previous.

Russ DeVasure, the general manager of the plant, had this to say: "When we began, we were a small shop with 60 stakeholders.  Today, we are growing the business as we move into our new facility, increase our workforce to over 150 stakeholders, and begin the brand new CJ4 program. These are significant and exciting milestones; achievements that will help build our cabinetry business for decades to come."

NORDAM Cabinetry is actually owned by the NORDAM group, which is based out of Tulsa in the state of Oklahoma.  It is one of the largest companies in the world that is both independently owned and focuses on aerospace activities.  It is responsible for the design and construction of propulsion, structural designs and cabinetry.  They have clients amongst both commercial, freight and military companies and employ around 2,700 people internationally.
