Gulfstream To Expand Research And Development

May 11, 2007

Gulfstream has announced that they have signed leases to expand their research and development center to accommodate an additional 700 employees and equipment.

The company has signed two leases for nine years each with North Point Real Estate for two buildings next to the existing Gulfstream research and development center.

The buildings are near the Savannah-Hilton Head airport. Financial details of the agreement were not released.

The new buildings are a 108 750 square foot office building and an additional 80 500 square foot  building for flexible use.
Both buildings should be ready for the company by the second quarter of 2008.

Gulfstream officials explained that by leasing the buildings they are better able to coordinate and consolidate much of their engineering and research programs under the umbrella of a single facility. The new facility allows for uninterrupted growth of existing research and development programs.

Gulfstream has been researching advanced flight controls, new vision system, and sonic boom suppression technology. The lease agreement includes and option to extend the term of the lease for an additional 9 years after the expiration of the current agreement.
