International Excellence Award Goes To Hawker Beechcraft Corporation

May 21, 2007

Last Thursday the World Trade Council of Wichita presented Hawker Beechcraft Corporation with the International Business Excellence Award. This prestigious award is given annually to one large company and one small company whose success has brought international business to the south central Kansas area.

As the winner of the large company category, HBC truly has earned this recognition. Ted Farid, vice president, New Business Development speaks of HBC’s dedication to growing its international market, "Our growth international is reflected in our accomplishments during the last couple of years with our international sales expanding from 16 percent of total sales in 2004 to 35 percent of total sales in 2006."

Not only does Hawker Beechcraft Corporation focus on reaching out to the international market, it is committed to bringing that business home to Wichita. Frequently HBC will bring customers to Kansas for company tours or aircraft training. Oftentimes this leads to their clients spending time and money in the local community.

HBC’s Farid went on to say, "The Company’s goal is to increase international sales to more than 50 percent of its total sales in the next two to three years." Already HBC is off to a good start by seeking more international certifications and locating demonstrators to keep up with international customer demonstration needs.
