JetBird, Europe’s first low cost private jet operator has appointed Stefan Vilner as their new CEO. Vilner was previously chief commercial operator at Sterling Airlines, and he is also the chairman of the European Low Fare Airlines Association.
At Sterling, Vilner was responsible for the revenue building and branding of the company and he spearheaded efforts that turned a company with combined losses of 120 million euros into a profitable and competitive airline. Vilner was also responsible for the transition in the company to a primarily online bookings platform, and current; 95% of tickets at Sterling are booked online.
The ELFAA, the committee of low cost airlines of which Vilner chairs was established to represent and deafens the needs and rights of low cost airlines throughout the continent. Ryanair and Easyjet are two of the commission’s largest members.
JetBird founder Domhnal Slattery exclaimed delight that Vilner was joining the JetBird team. He explained that the business model of their company was quite similar to those business models employed by successful low cost carriers, and he believed that Vilner would be a key asset in delivering value and increased services to all of Jet Bird’s customers.
The company is also enthusiastic to implement some of Vilner’s expertise on online marketing and sales, as they strive to make JetBird Europe’s leading low cost on demand private jet operator by 2009.
The company hopes to offer customers an on demand private jet experience at less than half of today’s prices when they open for business in 2009.
