Don McKneely and Sharon Patterson, co-founders of Billion Dollar Roundtable, announced its acceptance of Boeing as one of its newest members last week in New York. Billion Dollar Roundtable is an organization formed in 2001 for the purpose of bringing together major companies that spend at least a billion dollars annually to the growth of woman-owned and minority-owned businesses.
Boeing more than doubled the requirement and hence was welcomed with open arms into the Billion Dollar Roundtable following an extensive application process. Boeing director of Supplier Diversity, Joan Robinson-Berry, is expected to serve as representative of Boeing on the roundtable’s board of directors.
"Boeing has a long-standing commitment to small and diverse businesses," Robinson-Berry said. "We strive to find opportunities to utilize the skills and technology of these companies, and for more than 50 years we have maintained a formal supplier diversity program."
John Tracy, Boeing senior vice president of Engineering, Operations and Technology had this to say, "Boeing recognizes that diversity brings strength, innovation and flexibili8ty to our supply base. Tapping the skills and technologies of small, minority- and woman-owned businesses has played a vital role in helping us maintain our position as a global leader in aerospace-and will continue to do so."
