June 13, 2007

Airbus’ European Works Council has been presented with a new organization. This has been simplified and streamlined. It is aimed at better integration and rationalization by the company on a trans-national basis. It will be more efficient and productive.

So this can happen trans-national organizations are being used for industrial operations. Patrick Gavin will be leading the engineering side of things to concentrate on design offices, aircraft integration and architecture, research, technology and the flight test centre. In general all things related to airworthiness.

The Head of Operations, Gerald Weber will oversee four centers of excellence. They are now fully trans-national rather than being national. The four areas are :-

Aero structures

Fuselage

Wing & Pylon

Aft fuselage and Empennage

Bertrand George is Deputy and will assist the Head of Operations. He will also be in charge of all industrial processes.

A global point of contact for all non commercial aspects will be led by Tom Williams. This will be known as Programmes.

Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer Louis Gallois said, “The object is to make Airbus a real ‘architect and integrator’ in airline development.”

“All functions are to work trans-nationally in a single integrated company. Also, our relationship with suppliers should evolve into a true partnership, in order to build together a real extended enterprise, hereby gaining further synergies.”

“I am convinced that this new streamlined organization will generate the dynamism and the efficiency and productivity gains our teams need to make Airbus a truly leading company able to satisfy best its customers.”
