A private jet crashed into power lines while taking off for McClellan-Palomar Airport this week. The jet ended up in a golf course, knocking out power to the local area and causing two fires that could not easily be controlled by firefighters. It is believed that two people were aboard the jet and killed when it crashed.
Due to the power lines in the vicinity of the crash, firefighters couldn’t begin putting out the fire until the energy company shut off the power. The streams from the firefighter hoses could lead to electrocution if sprayed on power lines.
No information on the victims of the crash were available and little else could be determined about the crash until the flames were extinguished.
