NGP Concept Being Developed by Cessna

July 24, 2007

Engineers at Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, continue to refine the details of the next generation piston (NGP) proof-of-concept aircraft on display at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

Van Abel, project manager for the NGP said, “We are collecting performance data from several aerodynamic modifications, and are continuing to refine the aircraft design.

At last year’s AirVenture, the NGP proof-of-concept (POC) aircraft, surprised onlookers with a stunning fly-by. There are a higher percentage of composite materials used in a POC than a conventional aircraft.

A mock up of the interior design of the aircraft is being presented so people will know what the finished product could look like if the project goes ahead.

No data will be released to the public until Cessna decides what it is going to do. A decision is expected by the end of 2007.
