October 3, 2008

The Department of Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has recently purchased eight (8) new Diamond DA40 CS aircrafts. These new planes will be used for MTSU’s flight training program. With 19 DA40s, MTSU now has one of the largest all-glass fleet aviation programs in the country.

As reported by the Diamond Aircraft news room,

The DA40s acquired by MTSU came equipped with Garmin G1000 glass cockpits – including the GFC700 autopilot and Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT). “The DA40s with GFC700 autopilots and SVT provide a state-of-the-art training platform for MTSU students at a world-class aerospace institution,” said David Moser, Director of Fleet Sales for Diamond Aircraft.

“We are proud to expand our relationship with Diamond Aircraft,” said Wayne Dornan, Chair, MTSU Department of Aerospace. “Diamond airplanes have been an important part of our flight training and research programs since 2002. With the addition of eight new DA40s, more students will we have the opportunity to train in technically advanced airplanes, with a safety record that is second to none.”
