Croatia Airlines purchases four additional A319s

October 22, 2008

Croatia Airlines, the flag carrier of the Republic of Croatia, has recently signed an agreement with Airbus for the delivery of four A319s to enhance its medium haul fleet.

The newly purchased A319s will feature new cabin designs, which will provide more passenger comfort and a more modern tone to the interior. The A319 can accommodate up to 132 passengers in two-class configurations. The medium plane is powered by CFM International CFM56-5 engines and will charter extended flights in Europe, as well as domestic flights within Croatia.

According to Ivan Misetic, the president of Croatia Airlines, this purchase was for the future prospects of the company. Misetic comments “This strategic decision will allow us to meet the future demand of our customers with the most modern, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft.”

In response, Airbus chief of Operating Officer Customers, John Leahy, said “We are very pleased that Croatia Airlines, one of the largest and most successful airlines in the region, has further confirmed its confidence in the A320 Family by expanding its order backlog with Airbus.”
