FlyDubai deliveries delayed due to Boeing strike

November 5, 2008

Low-cost airline FlyDubai is talking to Boeing about the delivery delays that were incurred due to the long strike that took airplane manufacturer’s US facilities. But, the airline is confident that Boeing will deliver as promised, in the second quarter.

“Now the Boeing strike is over — our first aircraft was supposed to be delivered by April, and we were going to begin about two weeks after — we’re talking to Boeing to understand the delay,” commented Ghaith al-Ghaith, chief of FlyDubai.

The Boeing strike, which began two months ago, ended last Saturday. This will give Boeing the resources to deliver the 50 Boeing 737s that was ordered by FlyDubai. That’s why Ghaith is confident about the prospects of FlyDubai.

“As far as we are concerned, we’re planning to start the airline as we had intended,” Ghaith concluded.
