Air Arabia will be receiving the first delivery of 44 ordered Airbus aircrafts by mid-2010. The airline placed extra orders, which accelerate the delivery dates.
“We have increased the order to 44… delivery has been brought forward from 2012 to mid-2010,” said Adel Ali, Chief Executive of Air Arabia.
The 10 extra planes will be used to charter flights for the airlines’ new Morocco hub. The new hub will begin operating early next year, giving the United Arab Emirates-based airline access to Africa and Europe.
The Airbus A320 family aircraft has a price range of $73.2 million to $80.6 million, which makes the deal amount to about $770 million. Airbus and Air Arabia refused to disclose the official financial terms of the deal.
