Textron-owned Cessna Aircraft Company has a positive outlook for single-engine pistons and turbo prop sales. The company brought seven aircrafts during the AOPA Expo 2008, which ran from November 6-8 in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
“While the economic slowdown has created a difficult business environment, we are encouraged by brisk activity from new and existing propeller fleet operators placing almost 200 orders for 2009 production aircraft,” Cessna Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jack J. Pelton asserted in a recent press release. “These customers use aircraft to generate revenue or complete missions, so the aircraft are tools that are essential to their businesses being successful. Flight schools, for example, need to continue to upgrade to all-glass cockpits in order to stay competitive in the training market.”
Last July, Cessna officially announced a partnership with the University of North Dakota (UND) for a multi-year contact for Model 172 Skyhawks. UND will be receiving its final deliveries of this aircraft this month.
The University of Dubuque (UD) is yet another loyal customer of Cessna. UD has ordered 10 Skyhawks, 5 of which were delivered last summer. The remaining 5 will be delivered next summer.
