November 14, 2008

Embraer will display its new alcohol-powered Ipanema aircraft at the “International Biofuel Exposition” which will be held in the Hyatt Hotel at São Paulo, Brazil, from November 17-21.

The event aims to address the challenges of sustainable biofuels in the aviation industry. The discussion will be attended by government representatives, international agencies, lawyers, members of the scientific academe, and the like.

“Embraer believes that the growth of the aviation industry will use sustainable biofuels in the mid- to long-term,” asserted Satoshi Yokota, Executive Vice-President, Strategic Planning and Technology Development of Embraer. “That is why the Company invests in research and development of environmentally efficient products, including biofuels.”

The Ipanema is the world’s first airplane that’s been certified to fly on alcohol.
