In Boeing’s second-largest union vote, the engineers approved the company’s four-year contract offer—ending threats of a second strike at the aircraft manufacturer’s Seattle plant.
The voting populace consisted of more than 20,000 members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace—this represented the white collar engineers and technicians of the company.
The result gives Boeing a sigh of relief, because the company is currently dealing with its production line after it saw 27,000 operators take a 58 day strike, which delayed and deferred deliveries.
After the strike, SPEEA and Boeing negotiators reached a temporary agreement three weeks ago. And finally, the strikes were bought to an end today with the union vote being approved by the simple majority of the union.
Boeing said that the contracts began on 02 December 2008 and will expire on 06 October 2012.
