Tony Blair flies with Gulfstream

February 9, 2009

During his tenure as UK’s Prime Minister, Tony Blair’s aspirations of acquiring a private jet fleet were not approved by the Parliament. But now, the former PM has contracted private jet manufacturing company Gulfstream to transport him and his entourage as he carries out his current portfolio of jobs.

Blair’s American-made jet has a seating capacity of 19 people in its 45 ft. cabin. The model top speeds at just about 500 mph.

It is the same model that Blair considered when he was still Britain’s PM. However, the parliament rejected his proposal after learning that the jet cost £80million.

Since leaving the office, the ex-PM has been seen using numerous Gulfstream jet models, including a South African-registered Gulfstream V at Luton Airport.

Blair’s office insists on hiring jets in an anonymous basis. Blair hires jets out through brokers in London and Luton.
