Prince Charles goes to South America on Private Jet

February 13, 2009

Next month, Prince Charles will be traveling via private jet to South America for an environmental tour. The “green” crusade, which has an estimated cost of £300,000, will be centered on global warming.
The Prince will use an exclusive Portuguese-based charter company, which cannot be named for security reasons, to transport himself, the Duchess of Cornwall, and his entourage to Chile, Brazil, and Ecuador. They will be using an Airbus A319.

While many have criticized this trip for being hypocritical, aides have justified the use of a private jet.

First and foremost, it will be impossible for the Prince to complete a 10-day trip using commercial, scheduled flights as he has almost 40 engagements in different sectors of the region. Second, the aides stress that he will offset his carbon emissions.
