Gulfstream Corp. announced that a large-cabin, long-range Gulfstream G450 private jet recently achieved a new city-pair speed record between Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba and Barcelona International Airport in Spain.
The new aircraft flew over 4,300 nautical miles in just under nine hours with an average speed of Mach 0.80 without headwinds. It landed with 3,900 pounds of fuel remaining in the tank.
Piloting the aircraft was Jaime Bahamon, an international demonstration captain. Senior demonstration captain Ross Oetjen served as the copilot. Apart from flight attendant Lori Starbuck, the plane also carried nine passengers.
The G450 aircraft entered the fleet in 2005 and a week after entering the service it established a new intercontinental city-pair speed record of 3,550nm from Chicago to London in seven hours and fifteen minutes.
