Lawyers representing Jet Republic, a European private jet club, are seeking to remove a legal injunction filed by rival company NetJets Europe to prevent Jet Republic from hiring NetJets employees.
Last year, a Portuguese court granted the injunction just three months after the official launch of Jet Republic.
The injunction bans Jet Republic CEO Jonathan Breeze and COO Luis Vianna from making any attempt to contact employees of NetJets Transportes Aéreos.
“NetJets Europe welcomes new entrants to the business aviation market and wishes them the best of luck,” mentioned NetJets in a recent press release.
The company continues, “We have a highly skilled workforce that is in high demand. We cannot comment in detail on the case but, as ruled by the Portuguese courts, there is an injunction regarding recruitment activity which was deemed unfair competition.”
NetJets said that the injunction is only valid for current employees. On the other hand, Jet Republic’s lawyers had advised the company not to process applications even from former NetJets employees.
Jet Republic is aiming to recruit 500 pilots in the next five years and it will soon be receiving the first delivery of 110 Bombardier Learjet 60XRs.
