A supersonic private jet will be on display in an upcoming Dubai Airshow, confirms the organizer.
Aerion, an American company, will bring the aircraft. It is still in its developmental stages, but it will be on display at Dubai’s Airport Expo, which is scheduled on November 15-19, 2009.
The supersonic jet is expected to attract several buyers in the industry, which can affect its mass production.
According to F & E Aerospace director Alison Weller, the show is the perfect platform for the jet to introduce itself to potential buyers.
“Private jet travel is all about saving time and in this region in particular, travellers want to get to their final destination as quickly as possible,” said Weller.
“The Middle East attracts a lot of key business aviation buyers, and it is a key highlight of the show.”
The aircraft is designed with patented supersonic natural laminar flow technology that significantly reduces aerial drag at supersonic and high-subsonic cruise speeds.
The company claims that it will be fuel efficient at cruise speeds just below the speed of sound, which allows it to travel in short haul and long haul overland missions with the same fuel efficiency as large business jets.
