A Swiss-based private jet company will try to set the speed record for a round-the-world flight using a small aircraft.
Sonnig SA says that its owner—Riccardo Mortara—will try to circle the globe in under 67 hours, one minute and ten seconds on Friday to beat the standing world record set by Steve Fossett.
However, the World Air Sports Federation says that the Swiss team will be unable to break the record, because Mortara will have two co-pilots and ten refueling stops.
Fossett flew alone and non-stop in a custom-designed aircraft.
However, the federation says that the Swiss team is still eligible for its own record.
