Airbus anticipates increased private jet sales in the Middle East

March 24, 2010

Airbus is anticipating a 5-10 large-sized private jet orders a year from the Middle East—most of them coming form Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is expected to obtain at least half of the region’s market, because it is home to families that are interested in private jets.

The Middle Eastern market is driven by economic growth, and its oil-based industry continues to grow. Its growth prospects continue to remain bright. It is the world’s largest market for large corporate jets with customers ranging from private customers to governments.

“We already have a strong presence in the Middle East, where more than 80 Airbus corporate jets are already on order and in service, and our young and growing aircraft family means that we are well placed to grow further,” explained John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers.

Airbus has been selling corporate jets in the regions since the 1980s.
