Stow away survives private jet ride

June 10, 2010

A 20-year-old Romanian man luckily escaped after being a stow away on a private plane, which was heading to London from Vienna.

The man hid himself in the rear wheel compartment of the plane, which landed at Heathrow Airport last Sunday. He was taken into custody by the police in London and he was later released without being charged.

He suffered bruises and hypothermia due to the outside temperatures.

He was lucky because the plane flew at low altitude to avoid the storms. Otherwise, he would have suffered more serious injuries.

He got under a fence at Schwechat airport in Vienna and climbed the chassis of the first plane that he saw without knowing its destination.

The private jet was owned by a sheikh from the United Arab Emirates.
