Californian woman smuggles drugs in private jet

June 17, 2010

A Californian woman travelled with a body guard aboard a private jet and was caught in an Ohio airport with more than 500 pounds of marijuana stashed in suitcases, according to federal reports.

Lisette Lee, along with an entourage of three, was arrested Monday night after the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated them because they had a suspicious amount of luggage.

After the chartered plane landed in Columbus, one of Lee’s entourage unloaded some of the luggage. Some of the larger suitcases needed the strength of two men to be lifted. These suitcases were packed with bricks of pot.

Federal authorities also confiscated cell phones, cocaine, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. Investigators estimated that the items in the plane would cost more than $300,000 worth of transactions.

The 28-year-old woman was charged with conspiracy, possession, and intent to distribute. If convicted, she could spend up to 40 years in jail and can be fined for up to $2million.
