Scottie Pippen favored by jury for private jet fiasco

July 1, 2010

An emotional Scottie Pippen left the courthouse with his wife, Larsa, after the Cook County jury awarded him a $2 million verdict in a legal malpractice case.

The former NBA player sued two attorneys from Pedersen & Houpt for $8.2 million. The 44-year-old alleged the law firm for failing to monitor his purchase of a private jet in 2002. The plane was later grounded for upgrades and interior refurbishing.

Pippen spent an estimated $4.3 million for the Gulfstream private jet.

The jury ruled in favor of the former Chicago Bull, and awarded him roughly one quarter of what he asked for.
