Private jet owners from complain about Mumbai’s corporate terminal

February 18, 2011

Private jet owners in Mumbai are very upset, and for good reason.

Despite receiving clearance from the civil aviation ministry, Mumbai’s airport operator has not been able to begin international operations of its corporate terminal.

In 2009, the airport was equipped with a corporate terminal, which has facilities and amenities for private aircraft on domestic routes. Last year, the aviation ministry allowed private jet passengers to use the terminal for international routes.

However, the absence of a dedicated custom and immigration staff lengthens the red tape at the private jet terminal.

Taj Air, a private jet company, wrote a complaint about the current situation of the terminal. Aside from the long queues, the company also complained about the transporting of passengers by car from the airport to the private jet terminal. Because the airport has a 15km/hr speed limit, it takes nearly an hour to take the passengers to the private terminal.

All these small details are making private jet travel from the city more of a misery than a luxury.
