Secretary Ray LaHood supports Wichita private jet industry

March 23, 2011

United States Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood gave his support to the recovering private jet industry.

In front of a crowd of more than 2,000 workers, La Hood said, “We get it.” He continued, “Your industry supports 1.2 million jobs across America. It contributes more than $150 billion to the nation’s economy.”

The secretary promised the crowd that he would convince President Barack Obama to come visit the workers of Wichita—a city that houses several private jet companies, including Boeing, Cessna Aircraft, and Bombardier.

Wichita accounts for some 40% of all general aviation aircraft around the world, making it an essential location for general aviation and private jet industries.
