China: the next private jet market?

Industry experts foresee China as a place where private jets will thrive. However, with undeveloped infrastructure, strict regulations, and limited hangar space, it could take a while before private aviation takes off in the country.

In 2008, private jet markets in the United States and Europe took major blows from the financial crisis. Corporate aircraft manufacturers are hoping that China’s wealthy buyers can restore the market for private planes.

In the past months, a host of air plane exhibits were hosted in different locations of China. These demos wooed the country’s potential buyers with state-of-the-art private jet designs.

While it still may take time before the private jet industry grows in China, all signs point to the positives. Since 2005, the Asia-Pacific region has witnessed double-digit increases in the number of private jets. And all indications point to further growth.
